Piranha is a razor-edged 1978 comedy-horror thriller from director Joe Dante, produced by Roger Corman, and written by John Sayles. When skiptracer Maggie McKeown and local guide Paul Grogan investigate the disappearance of two teenagers near an abandoned military site, they accidentally unleash a deadly school of genetically engineered piranhas into the river system.

Created under the secret Vietnam-era project Operation: Razorteeth, these mutant fish were designed to survive harsh waters and devour anything in their path. Now they are heading downstream toward a children’s summer camp, a packed holiday resort, and eventually the open ocean.

Starring Bradford Dillman, Heather Menzies, Kevin McCarthy, Keenan Wynn, Barbara Steele, and Dick Miller, Piranha is a fast, bloody, darkly funny cult classic packed with panic, cover-ups, and creature-feature carnage.
