"The Drowning Pool" is a 1975 American mystery thriller film directed by Stuart Rosenberg, based on the novel of the same name by Ross Macdonald. Starring Paul Newman, Joanne Woodward, and Anthony Franciosa, the film is a loose sequel to "Harper" and takes place in Louisiana instead of California. A private investigator, Lew Harper, is hired by his former lover, Iris Devereaux, to solve a blackmailing case involving her family's ex-chauffeur. As he uncovers more secrets, including a murder, Harper must navigate through the tense family dynamics and sinister motives of those involved. With his expertise and keen deduction skills, Harper uncovers the truth and brings justice to the tangled web of lies.
