21 Hours at Munich is a 1976 American historical drama film directed by William A. Graham and starring William Holden, Shirley Knight and Franco Nero. Based on the book The Blood of Israel by Serge Groussard, it portrays the real events of the Munich massacre during the 1972 Summer Olympics. Originally broadcast on ABC on November 7, 1976, it was later released theatrically in various foreign countries. The film received two Primetime Emmy nominations. It is a dramatization of the tragic incident in 1972 when Arab terrorists took the lives of 11 Israeli athletes at the Olympic compound. Running for 1 hour and 41 minutes, it features an all-star cast including Michael Caine, Richard Widmark, Slim Pickens, Fred MacMurray, Bradford Dillman, Patty Duke Astin, Henry Fonda, Ben Johnson, José Ferrer, Richard Chamberlain, Olivia de Havilland, Katharine Ross, Irwin Allen
