LADY IN THE CAGE, directed by Walter Grauman, written and produced by Luther Davis, and starring Olivia de Havilland and James Caan, is a 1964 American psychological thriller film released by Paramount Pictures. When a power outage traps wealthy widow Cornelia Hilyard (Olivia de Havilland) in her mansion's elevator, she relies on the emergency alarm to call for help. However, her only response comes from a thief, George Brady (Jeff Corey), who leads a group of hoodlums to her home. Instead of helping Cornelia, they ransack her home and become drunk off her liquor. As Cornelia watches in horror, they mock and assault her until she manages to defend herself. In the end, justice is served and Cornelia is rescued, but not without moral and psychological consequences.
