Experience the classic tale of love, sacrifice, and revolution with this rare and deleted DVD of A Tale of Two Cities. Starring the legendary Ronald Colman and Elizabeth Allan, this black and white film is based on Charles Dickens' historical novel set in London and Paris. Directed by Jack Conway and nominated for two Academy Awards, this film is considered the best cinematic version of the novel and one of Colman's best performances.
The story follows the lives of Charles Darnay, a French aristocrat who has rejected his rank and moved to England, and Sidney Carton, an alcoholic English advocate, both of whom fall in love with Lucie Manette. As the French Revolution looms, the innocent family and their friends are caught up in the horrors of the Terror. In a selfless act of love, Carton sacrifices himself to save Darnay's life at the guillotine.
