THE MOON IS BLUE (1953) is an American romantic comedy film featuring George Segal, Glenda Jackson, Paul Sorvino, and Hildegard Neil. Directed by Otto Preminger, it follows the story of a young woman who meets an architect at the Empire State Building and changes his life. The film is based on F. Hugh Herbert's play, which was also a hit in Germany and was filmed simultaneously in English and German. In the film, Patty O'Neill, a virtuous actress, meets Donald Gresham on the observation deck of the Empire State Building and joins him for dinner and drinks in his apartment. There, she encounters his former fiancée and her father, both attempting to win her over. However, Patty is more interested in discussing moral and sexual issues, and she resists their advances. The next day, she returns to the Empire State Building where Donald professes his love for her and proposes.
