When the law runs out of options, survival becomes the only rule.
In a deserted Los Angeles police station scheduled for permanent closure, newly promoted Lieutenant Ethan Bishop (Austin Stoker) expects nothing more than a quiet final shift. With only a handful of officers and civilian staff remaining, the nearly abandoned precinct is little more than an empty building waiting to be locked for the last time.
But across the city, a brutal street gang known as Street Thunder has sworn a blood oath of revenge after several of its members are killed in a police ambush. Armed with military-style weapons fitted with silencers, the gang launches a relentless siege against the isolated station, cutting telephone lines, destroying power and trapping everyone inside.
Among those caught in the nightmare is Napoleon Wilson (Darwin Joston), a cool, charismatic convicted murderer being transported to death row. As wave after wave of heavily armed attackers closes in, Bishop is forced into an uneasy alliance with the dangerous prisoner. With trust in short supply and ammunition rapidly running out, police officers, civilians and convicts must fight side by side if they hope to survive the night.
Directed by the legendary John Carpenter, Assault on Precinct 13 is a tense, action-packed thriller inspired by Howard Hawks' Rio Bravo and George A. Romero's Night of the Living Dead. Renowned for its suspenseful atmosphere, memorable electronic score composed by Carpenter himself, and expertly staged siege action, the film has become one of the defining cult classics of 1970s cinema.
Initially overlooked on its American release, the film found critical acclaim in Europe before earning worldwide recognition as one of Carpenter's finest achievements. Its influence can still be seen in countless action and thriller films that followed, making it an essential addition to any classic film collection.
