On a remote island prison hidden from the outside world, a new inmate known only as No. 99 enters a brutal regime where justice has been replaced by fear. Under the ruthless control of a corrupt governor and a merciless prison administration, the women endure unimaginable hardship while hope becomes their most precious possession.

As alliances are forged and desperation grows, the arrival of a new official raises the possibility of change. But behind the prison walls, appearances are deceptive, and every failed escape attempt brings even harsher consequences. With tensions mounting, the inmates must summon every ounce of courage if they are to survive—and perhaps win their freedom.

Directed by cult filmmaker Jesús Franco, 99 Women is a tense prison drama that helped establish the women-in-prison genre. Featuring performances by Maria Schell, Herbert Lom, Luciana Paluzzi, Mercedes McCambridge, and Maria Rohm, the film combines suspense, psychological conflict, and exploitation-era filmmaking into one of Franco's best-known productions.
