A musical western drama set during the Great Depression.
Itinerant country singer Red Stovall is battling tuberculosis when he and his young nephew Whit set out on a difficult journey to Nashville, Tennessee, hoping for one last shot at fame at the Grand Ole Opry.
Along the way, the pair face hardship, humour, and heartbreak as Red’s condition worsens but his determination to record his music never fades. When they finally reach Nashville, Red’s audition is cut short by his failing health — yet his talent still earns him one final opportunity in the recording studio.
As Red’s life slips away during the session, Whit is left to carry on his uncle’s legacy, determined to tell his story to the world.
