Katie Higgins is a spirited young woman from a hardworking dairy-farming family whose remarkable talent in the water attracts the attention of travelling salesman Windy Weebe. Convinced that Katie has what it takes to conquer the English Channel, Windy persuades the family to travel to England, where Katie begins the demanding training required for the famous crossing.
But Katie's concentration is tested when she is rescued from the water by handsome Frenchman Andre Lanet. As romance begins to blossom, Katie finds herself torn between her growing feelings for Andre, Windy's determination to see her succeed, and her own ambition to complete the gruelling Channel swim.
Packed with colourful musical entertainment, romance and comedy, Dangerous When Wet also features its celebrated fantasy swimming sequence combining Esther Williams with Tom and Jerry.
