THE RUNNING MAN (1963) is a British-American neo-noir drama film directed by Carol Reed. Starring Laurence Harvey and Lee Remick, the film follows a man who fakes his own death for insurance fraud. Adapted from the novel by Shelley Smith, the film was shot in Spain, Gibraltar, and Ireland. Upon release, it garnered attention due to a viral marketing campaign linked to the JFK assassination. As the plot unfolds, Rex's fake death becomes real when he crashes his stolen plane. Stella, his accomplice, gets away and must explain their "holiday romance" to the police.
