Released in 1986, Psycho III is an American slasher film and the third installment in the Psycho franchise. It features Anthony Perkins, who not only stars but also directs as he reprises his iconic role as Norman Bates. Co-starring Diana Scarwid, Jeff Fahey, and Roberta Maxwell, the film's screenplay was written by Charles Edward Pogue. It boasts an original electronic music score composed and performed by Carter Burwell, one of his earliest projects. However, it should be noted that Psycho III is not based on Robert Bloch's third novel in the series, Psycho House, which was released in 1990. The story takes place only one month after the events of Psycho II, where Norman is still managing the Bates Motel with the preserved corpse of Emma Spool sitting in the house. Things take a dramatic turn when a suicidal nun and a drifter named Duane Duke arrive at the motel, along with a reporter who is investigating the mysterious disappearance of Mrs
