BREAKING GLASS (15) is a 1980 British film featuring Hazel O'Connor, Phil Daniels, and Jonathan Pryce. It was co-produced by Dodi Fayed and written and directed by Brian Gibson. The film premiered at the 1980 Cannes Film Festival but was not in competition. The soundtrack, featuring songs by O'Connor, reached number 5 in the UK and was certified Gold by the British Phonographic Industry. Two singles, 'Eighth Day' and 'Will You', both reached the UK Top 10. The film follows the story of Kate Crowley, a talented but troubled young singer-songwriter, as she rises to fame with her band Breaking Glass. Despite the efforts of her manager Danny, Kate struggles to find success in the music industry due to her anti-establishment views. Eventually, they record a demo tape and try to gain interest from gig promoters.
