The thrilling adventure that introduced feature-length colour 3D to the world!
Based on the true story of the legendary Tsavo man-eating lions, Bwana Devil is a gripping adventure set in the untamed wilderness of British East Africa during the construction of the Uganda Railway.
As hundreds of workers struggle against disease, harsh conditions and the unforgiving African landscape, a pair of savage man-eating lions begin stalking the construction camps, spreading terror and leaving a trail of death. With the railway project on the verge of collapse, engineer Bob Hayward (Robert Stack) refuses to abandon his men and prepares for a desperate battle against nature's most fearsome predators.
When experienced big-game hunters fail to stop the attacks, Hayward risks everything in a deadly confrontation that will decide the fate of the railway—and the lives of those he loves. Joined by his courageous wife, he faces one of the greatest survival challenges ever brought to the screen.
Directed by Arch Oboler, Bwana Devil made cinema history as the world's first feature-length colour 3D motion picture, launching Hollywood's 3D boom of the 1950s. Combining spectacular African scenery, suspense, romance and thrilling action, this classic adventure remains an important landmark in film history.
