When two men secretly dump toxic waste inside an ancient crypt, an accident awakens Catherine Valmont, a beautiful young woman who has been dead for two years. Returning to her family mansion with only fragments of her former life, Catherine soon discovers that her unnatural resurrection has left her with an uncontrollable need for human blood.

Her childhood friend Hélène is stunned to find Catherine alive and becomes determined to protect her at any cost. But as Catherine slowly regains her memories and humanity, Hélène's devotion becomes increasingly dangerous. Meanwhile, photographer Barbara begins investigating the mysterious woman she photographed near the mansion—a woman the villagers insist has been dead for years.

Directed by cult filmmaker Jean Rollin, The Living Dead Girl combines Gothic horror, tragedy and haunting imagery in one of his most atmospheric and memorable films.
