Paul Temple is a fictional character created by English writer Francis Durbridge. Temple is a professional author of crime fiction and an amateur private detective. With his wife Louise, affectionately known as 'Steve' in reference to her journalistic pen name 'Steve Trent', he solves whodunnit crimes through subtle, humorously articulated deduction.

 Always the gentleman, the strongest expletive he employs is "by Timothy!".Created for the BBC radio serial Send for Paul Temple in 1938, the Temples featured in more than 30 BBC radiodramas, twelve serials for German radio, four British feature films, a dozen novels, and a BBC television series. A PaulTemple daily newspaper strip ran in the London Evening News for two decades.

Sherlock Holmes is a fictional detective created by British author Arthur Conan Doyle. Referring to himself as a "consulting detective" in the stories, Holmes is known for his proficiency with observation, deduction, forensic science and logical reasoning that borders on the fantastic, which he employs when investigating cases for a wide variety of clients, including Scotland Yard.

 First appearing in print in 1887's A Study in Scarlet, the character's popularity became widespread with the first series of short stories in The Strand Magazine, beginning with "A Scandal in Bohemia" in 1891; additional tales appeared

The Adventures of Philip Marlowe: 117 SHOWS

The Adventures of Philip Marlowe was a radio series featuring Raymond Chandler's private eye, Philip Marlowe.

 Robert C. Reinehr and Jon D. Swartz, in their book, The A to Z of Old Time Radio, noted that the program differed from most others in its genre: "It was a more hard-boiled program than many of the other private detective shows of the time, containing few quips or quaint characters."

The program first aired 17 June 1947 on NBC radio under the title The New Adventures of Philip Marlowe, with Van Heflin playing Marlowe. The show was a summer replacement for Bob Hope. The first episode adapted Chandler' short story "Red Wind". The NBC series ended 9 September 1947.In 1948, the series moved to CBS, where it was called The Adventures of Philip Marlowe, with Gerald Mohr playing Marlowe. This series also began with an adaptation of "Red Wind", using a script different from the NBC adaptation. By 1949, it had the largest audience in radio.The CBS version ran for 114 episodes. That series ran 26 September 1948 – 29 September 1950.

Perry Mason:  223 SHOWS

Perry Mason is a fictional character, an American criminal defense lawyer who is the main character in works ofdetective fiction written by Erle Stanley Gardner. Perry Mason features in 82 novels and 4 short stories, all of which involve a client being charged with murder, usually involving a preliminary hearing or jury trial. Typically, Mason establishes his client's innocence by finding the real murderer. The character was inspired by famed Los Angeles criminal defense attorney Earl Rogers.

The character of Perry Mason was adapted for motion pictures and a long-running radio series. These were followedby the best known adaptation, the CBS television series Perry Mason (1957–1966) starring Raymond Burr. A second television series, The New Perry Mason starring Monte Markham, ran from 1973 to 1974; and 30 Perry Mason television films ran from 1985 to 1995, with Burr reprising the role of Mason in 26 of them prior to his death in 1993. A third television series, HBO's Perry Mason starring Matthew Rhys, started airing in 2020.

 The Perry Mason series ranks third in the top ten best selling book series. In 2015, the American Bar Association'spublishing imprint, Ankerwycke, began reissuing Gardner's Perry Mason books, which had been out of print in the United States.

The Saint is the nickname of the fictional character Simon Templar, featured in a series of novels and short stories byLeslie Charteris published between 1928 and 1963. After that date, other authors collaborated with Charteris on books until 1983; two additional works produced without Charteris's participation were published in 1997.
