A chilling British folk-horror classic where an ancient evil takes root in the English countryside.
In an isolated village in early 18th-century England, farmer Ralph Gower uncovers something horrifying beneath a field — a strange, deformed skull covered with fur and bearing a single eye. When he brings the local Judge to investigate, the remains have mysteriously disappeared.
Soon, increasingly disturbing events begin to grip the village. The young people, led by the sinister Angel Blake, abandon their lessons and gather secretly in the ruins of an old church, where their innocent games give way to something far darker. Strange patches of fur begin appearing on their bodies as an ancient demonic presence slowly takes physical form.
As fear and superstition spread, the Judge realises that the evil Ralph uncovered is very real. Returning to the village armed with knowledge of witchcraft, he gathers the townspeople for a final confrontation with the cult and the terrifying creature they serve.
Atmospheric, unsettling and steeped in English folklore, The Blood on Satan’s Claw has become one of the defining films of British folk horror, frequently associated with Witchfinder General and The Wicker Man.
