Desperate to save his family's ranch from financial ruin, cowboy Ross McEwen (Joel McCrea) commits an unthinkable act—he robs a bank and escapes with $2,000. Leaving behind only an I.O.U., Ross becomes the target of an ever-growing manhunt led by legendary lawman Pat Garrett.

While evading bounty hunters across the rugged landscapes of New Mexico, Ross encounters compassionate nurse Fay Hollister (Frances Dee). As the pair grow closer, Ross struggles to reconcile his feelings for Fay with the knowledge that he is a wanted man whose future remains uncertain.

Pursued across deserts, mountains and small frontier towns, Ross repeatedly demonstrates honesty, courage and selflessness, earning the respect of those he meets along the way. But with the law closing in and his fate hanging in the balance, he must decide whether to continue running or face the consequences of his actions.

Beautifully photographed and featuring outstanding performances from Joel McCrea, Frances Dee and Charles Bickford, Four Faces West is one of the most unusual Westerns ever made.
