Successful politician Patrick Dalton (Dudley Moore) has his life unexpectedly changed when he meets wealthy cosmetics executive Charlotte Dreyfus (Mary Tyler Moore) and her courageous young daughter Nicole, who is terminally ill with leukemia.

Determined to make every remaining moment count, Charlotte sets out to fulfil Nicole's dreams before time runs out.
