On the sun-soaked shores of Hawaii, powerful land baron Richard “King” Howland rules with pride and prejudice. When his sister Sloane announces her intention to marry Paul Kahana, a native Hawaiian, Richard’s deeply rooted beliefs are pushed to the breaking point—despite his own secret affair with the mysterious Mai Chen.

But a violent confrontation at an engagement celebration turns tragic, leaving Paul dead and Sloane devastated. Fleeing to Honolulu, she finds refuge with Paul’s family—while Richard is forced to confront the consequences of his actions.
