Los Angeles, December 1999. As the city prepares for the dawn of a new millennium, the streets are descending into violence, corruption and chaos.
Ralph Fiennes stars as Lenny Nero, a former cop turned black-market dealer in SQUID recordings — illegal technology that allows people to experience another person's memories, emotions and physical sensations as if they were their own.
But when Lenny receives a recording containing evidence of a brutal murder, he is drawn into a deadly conspiracy reaching deep into the city's criminal underworld. With his fiercely loyal friend Mace (Angela Bassett) at his side, Lenny must uncover the truth while protecting his former girlfriend Faith (Juliette Lewis) and staying one step ahead of those determined to destroy the evidence.
As midnight approaches on New Year's Eve, the conspiracy threatens to ignite a city already on the brink.
Directed by Kathryn Bigelow and written by James Cameron and Jay Cocks, Strange Days combines futuristic science fiction, murder mystery and hard-edged film noir into a dark and visually striking thriller.
Initially overlooked on its theatrical release, the film has since gained a strong cult following and is now regarded as one of the most distinctive science-fiction thrillers of the 1990s.
