Set in Georgia in 1949, Paris Trout is a dark and uncompromising Southern drama about prejudice, violence and corruption.

Paris Trout is a wealthy, greedy and deeply racist shopkeeper who believes his position in the community places him beyond consequence. When a Black man refuses to repay a disputed debt, Trout's response escalates into a shocking act of violence that leaves an innocent young woman dead.

Trout is astonished when the authorities actually arrest him. Convinced that the social order of the Old South should protect a man like himself, his paranoia and anger intensify as the case proceeds.

Attorney Harry Seagraves is brought in to defend Trout and initially attempts to control his increasingly unstable client. But Seagraves soon becomes entangled in Trout's destructive world himself, particularly through a dangerous relationship with Trout's long-suffering wife.

What follows is a bleak examination of racism, power, obsession and moral corruption, driven by powerful performances from its three leads.
