The Premature Burial, also known as Premature Burial, is a 1962 American horror film directed by Roger Corman and starring Ray Milland, Hazel Court, Alan Napier, Heather Angel and Richard Ney. Based on the 1844 short story by Edgar Allan Poe, this movie is the third in a series of eight Poe-themed pictures directed by Corman for American International Pictures. Set in the Victorian era, the story revolves around British aristocrat Guy Carrell, who is consumed by the fear of being buried alive. Despite his fear, he marries his fiancée Emily, but his obsession with death only grows worse. With the help of his colleague Miles Archer, Guy attempts to overcome his fear, but ultimately meets his tragic end at the hands of his own wife. This chilling tale explores the macabre theme of premature burial and the haunting effects of one's deepest fears.
