American diplomat Robert Thorn and his wife Katherine believe their young son Damien is just like any other child. But Robert is hiding a terrible secret. When Katherine's baby died moments after birth in Rome, Robert secretly agreed to replace him with another newborn—never telling his wife the truth.
Five years later, after Robert becomes U.S. Ambassador to Britain, a series of terrifying and inexplicable events begins to surround Damien. His nanny dies horribly at his birthday party, animals react violently to his presence, and a mysterious new governess arrives with an unsettling devotion to the boy.
When a priest desperately warns Robert that Damien is no ordinary child, Robert initially refuses to believe him. But as the deaths continue, photographer Keith Jennings uncovers disturbing clues that lead the two men on a journey from London to Rome and Jerusalem.
What they discover is more horrifying than either could have imagined. Damien may be the fulfilment of an ancient prophecy—the child destined to bring unimaginable evil into the world.
