Jesse James is a 1939 Western movie helmed by director Henry King and starring Tyrone Power, Henry Fonda, Nancy Kelly, and Randolph Scott. Nunnally Johnson wrote the screenplay, loosely based on the life of James, the notorious outlaw. The supporting cast includes Henry Hull, John Carradine, Brian Donlevy, Jane Darwell, and Lon Chaney, Jr. Although the American Humane Association supervised production, a horse allegedly died during filming. The film is renowned for its historical inaccuracy, as proclaimed by the British Channel 4 website. A railroad representative named Barshee coerces farmers into giving up their land for the construction of the railroad, offering a mere $1 per acre, far below the actual value. However, when they reach Jesse's home, Barshee learns that Mrs. Samuels, Jesse's mother, is the rightful owner. He persistently attempts to force her into selling, but Jesse's brother Frank intervenes and easily overpowers
