MAVERICK is an American Western TV series with comedic elements, created by Roy Huggins and starring James Garner as a skilled poker player who travels through the American frontier in the late 19th century. The show aired for five seasons from September 22, 1957, to July 8, 1962 on ABC. Initially, Garner played the lead role of Bret Maverick, a poker player from Texas. Later on, he was joined by his brother Bart, played by Jack Kelly. The two brothers took turns as the main characters, occasionally teaming up for an episode. When Garner left the show due to a legal dispute, Roger Moore was added as cousin Beau Maverick. The two remaining leads alternated as series leads, with occasional team-up episodes. In the fourth season, Robert Colbert joined the cast as Brent, the third Maverick brother. The series returned to a "single Maverick" format in the fifth and final season.
