While travelling to Australia during World War II, a chance mix-up sees the shy and accident-prone Ensign Parker mistaken for a decorated Air Force officer. Before long he's being promoted through the ranks, charming glamorous women, winning battles he never meant to fight and fooling everyone from senior generals to military intelligence. As the misunderstandings spiral completely out of control, Parker finds himself an unlikely war hero with the entire Allied command desperate to keep the truth under wraps.
