Down-on-his-luck drifter Michael Williams (Nicolas Cage) rolls into the isolated Wyoming town of Red Rock looking for work. Instead, local bar owner and sheriff Wayne Brown (J. T. Walsh) mistakes him for a professional hitman hired to dispose of his wife, Suzanne (Lara Flynn Boyle).
Michael takes the money but warns Suzanne instead—only for her to make him an even more tempting counter-offer. Just when he thinks he can escape town, the real hitman, Lyle from Dallas (Dennis Hopper), arrives.
Suddenly trapped between a corrupt sheriff, a dangerous killer and a woman with secrets of her own, Michael becomes caught in an increasingly deadly web of deception where nobody is quite what they seem.
Directed by John Dahl, Red Rock West is a stylish blend of neo-noir, crime thriller and modern Western, packed with double-crosses, dark humour and unexpected twists.
