THE MASTER OF BALLANTRAE (1953) is a British Technicolor adventure film based on the 1889 novel by Robert Louis Stevenson. Set in eighteenth century Scotland, it follows two brothers, Jamie and Henry Durie, as they clash over their family estate and a lady during the Jacobite rising. Directed by William Keighley, it was the last film he worked on. Jamie and his Irish companion, Colonel Francis Burke, travel to the West Indies as fugitives, but end up becoming partners with a French pirate named Captain Arnaud. However, when they return to Scotland, Jamie must confront his brother and the consequences of their actions. With its action and drama, this rare DVD is a must-have for any film aficionado.
