From the depths of a mysterious island comes one of the mightiest creatures ever unleashed!
When survivors of a shipwreck are discovered near the supposedly uninhabited Infant Island, a scientific expedition is sent to investigate. There they discover a strange world of mutated vegetation, an isolated native population—and two extraordinary miniature women known as the Shobijin.
Ignoring their warnings, ruthless entrepreneur Clark Nelson kidnaps the tiny priestesses and takes them to civilisation, where he exploits them as a sensational stage attraction. But the Shobijin are not alone. Their desperate song summons the ancient guardian of Infant Island—Mothra.
Hatching as an enormous larva, Mothra begins an unstoppable journey across the ocean to rescue them. Military weapons prove powerless as the gigantic creature reaches Tokyo, where an incredible transformation unleashes Mothra in her spectacular winged form.
Directed by Ishirō Honda, with special effects by legendary effects director Eiji Tsuburaya, Mothra is a classic of Japanese kaiju cinema and introduced one of Toho's most famous monsters.
