A BRUTAL AND GRIPPING BATTLE FOR SURVIVAL

Set against the vast and unforgiving landscape of nineteenth-century Southern Africa, The Naked Prey is a tense and visually striking adventure thriller directed by and starring Cornel Wilde.

Wilde plays an unnamed professional safari guide leading a hunting expedition across the African veldt. When an arrogant member of the party ignores the guide's warnings and insults a local tribal leader, the consequences are swift and devastating. The expedition is captured and its members subjected to deadly punishment.

The guide alone is offered one final chance to survive. Stripped of his clothes, weapons and supplies, he is released into the wilderness and given a brief head start before a group of skilled warriors begins pursuing him.

What follows is an extraordinary test of endurance as the hunted man must rely entirely upon instinct, intelligence and determination. With danger behind him and the unforgiving African wilderness ahead, he battles exhaustion, hunger, wild animals and his relentless pursuers in a desperate race towards safety.

Filmed on location in Southern Africa, The Naked Prey combines spectacular scenery with remarkably economical storytelling and extended sequences containing little dialogue. Cornel Wilde delivers a powerful physical performance in a film that explores survival, revenge and the thin line separating civilisation from brutality.

The screenplay by Clint Johnston and Don Peters received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay.
