Mary Bailey Hatch (Marlo Thomas) has always dreamed of leaving her small hometown and seeing the world. But family responsibilities and circumstances repeatedly force her to put those dreams aside, eventually leaving her in charge of the family Building & Loan.

When a financial crisis threatens everything she has worked for, Mary reaches her lowest point on Christmas Eve. Then her guardian angel, Clara Oddbody (Cloris Leachman), arrives to show Mary what the lives of her family, friends and neighbours might have been like without her—and just how much one person's kindness and sacrifice can mean.

A warm and moving Christmas fantasy inspired by It’s a Wonderful Life, It Happened One Christmas combines drama, humour and festive sentiment in a story about family, hope and discovering the true value of a life well lived.
