DEAD & BURIED (1981) is an American horror film directed by Gary Sherman and features stars such as Melody Anderson and Jack Albertson in his final live-action role. The film follows the story of a small town where tourists are mysteriously murdered and then reanimated, causing chaos and confusion among the locals. With a screenplay written by renowned writers Dan O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett, the film was initially banned in certain countries due to its graphic content, but was later cleared of any obscenity charges. Despite not making much money at the box office, the film has gained a cult following over the years, especially for its special effects and performances from the cast. The film was even adapted into a novel by Chelsea Quinn Yarbro. As the bodies pile up in Potters Bluff, Sheriff Dan Gillis and eccentric local coroner-mortician Dobbs race against time to uncover the motive behind the killings.
