FUNNY FARM (1988) is a comedy film featuring Chevy Chase and Madolyn Smith, based on Jay Cronley's novel of the same name. Directed by George Roy Hill, it follows the story of a sports writer who moves to Redbud, Vermont to write a novel with his wife. However, they soon face difficulties adjusting to the town's quirks and peculiarities, leading to marital troubles. As their house is put up for sale, they must rely on the help of the town's residents to make a good impression on potential buyers. But when they realize their love for small-town living, they decide to stay and pay the promised $50 to each resident. With a new job and a baby on the way, the couple looks forward to a bright future in Redbud.
