Best friends Brenda and Yvonne leave the North of England and head for London, dreaming of fame, fortune and all the excitement of the Swinging Sixties. But from the moment they arrive, their grand adventure becomes a hilarious catalogue of disasters.

Thrown headfirst into the outrageous world of Swinging London, the girls encounter trendy photographers, fashionable boutiques, nightclubs, television shows, pop music and some decidedly eccentric characters. Their fortunes unexpectedly change when Yvonne receives a large cash windfall and launches herself as a pop singer, while Brenda finds success as a fashion model.

As celebrity, money and romance threaten their friendship, the pair discover that fashionable London may not be quite as glamorous as they imagined.

Starring Rita Tushingham and Lynn Redgrave, Smashing Time is a colourful, fast-moving satire of 1960s youth culture, fashion, celebrity and the media — packed with outrageous comedy and unmistakable Swinging London style.
