The Gunfight at Dodge City is a 1959 American Western film, shot in DeLuxe Color and CinemaScope and produced by the Mirisch Company. Directed by Joseph M. Newman, it features Joel McCrea as Bat Masterson and was co-written by Martin Goldsmith and Daniel B. Ullman. Bat Masterson decides to sell his saloon and team up with his friend Ben Townsend to hunt buffalo for profit, while helping Ben's disabled brother Billy. However, a disturbed gunman named Dave Rudabaugh warns Bat not to sell his pelts in Hays City. Bat disregards the warning and ends up in Dodge City, where he challenges a cavalry sergeant and then becomes the City Marshal. His upright brother Ed, who is in love with the minister's daughter, tries to clean up the corrupt town with little success. Bat then enters a partnership with Lily, owner of the Lady Gay saloon, and they face opposition from the Sheriff and his deputies who are trying to force
