Starring James Baskett, Ruth Warrick, Lucile Watson, and Bobby Driscoll, this VERY VERY rare deleted title is now available on a public domain DVD. Please note that this is the disc only and does not come with a case. The film is set on a plantation in Georgia during the Reconstruction Era, after slavery was abolished. The original Uncle Remus stories, written by Harris in the late 1800s, were all set during this time period. Harris was a writer and journalist who advocated for racial reconciliation.

The plot follows seven-year-old Johnny, who is staying at his grandmother's plantation while his parents are temporarily separated. He befriends a young black boy named Toby and a poor white girl named Ginny. Uncle Remus, a sharecropper on the plantation, tells Johnny traditional African-American folktales, including 'Br'er Rabbit Earns a Dollar a Minute' and 'Br'er Rabbit and the Tar-Baby.' These stories teach valuable lessons about not getting involved in things that are not your business.

When Johnny's birthday arrives, he takes Ginny to his party, but she is pushed into a mud puddle by two boys. Uncle Remus cheers them up with the story of 'Br'er Rabbit and his Laughing Place.' However, a misunderstanding leads to Uncle Remus leaving the plantation. When Johnny is injured and near death, Uncle Remus returns and tells a story that miraculously saves his life. The film ends with all the characters from Uncle Remus's stories coming to life and walking into the sunset together.

This DVD is over 50 years old and in color, but please note that it may not be up to today's high quality standards. However, the quality is still very good and can be watched on a large screen. Please keep in mind that it was made for older screens and not digital. This DVD is made to play in all DVD/Blu-ray players and PCs and is region free.
