Dressed to Kill (1980) is an American psychological thriller directed by Brian De Palma, starring Michael Caine, Angie Dickinson, and Nancy Allen. It follows a housewife (Dickinson) who is brutally murdered and the prostitute (Allen) who witnesses the crime and tries to solve it with the help of the victim's son (Keith Gordon). Inspired by Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, Dressed to Kill was both a commercial success and received positive reviews, with New York magazine proclaiming it "the first great American movie of the '80s". The lead actors, Dickinson and Allen, received awards for their performances. The story centers around Kate Miller, a sexually frustrated housewife who begins therapy with New York psychiatrist Dr. Robert Elliott. While attempting to seduce him, she discovers that he has contracted both syphilis and gonorrhea. Later, she is slashed to death in an elevator by a mysterious, blonde woman who turns out to be Dr. Elliott in disguise
