Deadly Friend is a 1986 American science fiction horror film directed by renowned filmmaker Wes Craven and starring talented actors Matthew Laborteaux, Kristy Swanson, Michael Sharrett, and Anne Twomey. The plot centers around a gifted teenage computer prodigy who implants a robot's processor into the brain of his brain-dead neighbor, leading to a series of deadly consequences. Based on Diana Henstell's novel Friend, this film was originally intended to focus on plot and character development, along with a dark love story, but was heavily edited and re-shot due to studio demands for more violent and gruesome content. However, fans have called for the release of the original cut through an online petition.
