The Old Dark House is a 1963 comedy horror film directed by William Castle. It is a remake of Universal's 1932 film of the same name, originally directed by James Whale and based on J.B. Priestley's 1927 novel "Benighted". The screenplay for the new adaptation was written by Robert Dillon. The opening titles feature artwork by the renowned macabre cartoonist Charles Addams, whose signature is painted by a hairy hand. The movie is set in Dartmoor, Devon and follows the story of a London salesman who plans to visit his roommate and family at an old mansion. However, when he arrives, he discovers that his roommate has died and he is invited to stay with the family for the night. But as the night progresses, family members start getting killed one by one. It turns out that they were all heirs to the family fortune and someone is responsible for their deaths in order to become the sole inheritor. With the help of Uncle Potip
