HE HEARD A GUNSHOT. THE POLICE CALLED IT AN ACCIDENT. NOW SOMEONE WILL KILL TO KEEP THE TRUTH BURIED!
John Travolta stars alongside Nancy Allen, John Lithgow and Dennis Franz in this gripping psychological conspiracy thriller from acclaimed writer and director Brian De Palma.
Jack Terry (John Travolta) is a talented Philadelphia sound technician working on a low-budget horror film. While recording sound effects late one night, he witnesses a car suddenly lose control and plunge into a river. Jack rushes to the rescue, saving a mysterious young woman named Sally (Nancy Allen), but the driver, a prominent politician and presidential hopeful, is killed.
Initially dismissed as a tragic accident, the incident takes a sinister turn when Jack listens to his recording and discovers what sounds unmistakably like a gunshot immediately before the car's tyre explodes.
Convinced he has accidentally recorded evidence of a political assassination, Jack begins investigating the crash. With Sally's reluctant assistance, he pieces together photographic evidence and sound recordings that suggest a carefully orchestrated conspiracy.
But powerful forces are determined to silence the truth, and a ruthless killer (John Lithgow) is eliminating anyone who threatens to expose the deadly cover-up.
As Jack races against time to protect Sally and uncover the conspiracy, his search for justice leads to a terrifying confrontation where one fatal mistake could cost everything.
Combining breathtaking suspense, stylish cinematography, shocking twists and unforgettable performances, Blow Out is a celebrated cult classic and one of Brian De Palma's finest thrillers.
