NEAR DARK (1987) is an American neo-Western horror film directed by Kathryn Bigelow and starring Adrian Pasdar, Jenny Wright, Lance Henriksen, Bill Paxton, Jenette Goldstein, and Tim Thomerson. The story centers on a young man in a small town in Oklahoma who becomes involved with a clan of nomadic American vampires. Despite its initial box office failure, the film received positive reviews from critics and has since gained a dedicated following. The plot follows Caleb Colton, a young man who is bitten by a female vampire named Mae and taken in by her group of vampire companions. While struggling to adapt to their nomadic and violent lifestyle, Caleb's family attempts to rescue him from their clutches. Through a series of events, Caleb discovers a way to reverse his transformation and save his sister from the vampires' deadly grasp. The film ends with Mae and Caleb seeking comfort in each other's arms, finally free from their cursed existence.
