Dean Martin and Lana Turner lead a riotous comedy where a wife’s ingenious plan to cure her husband’s gambling habit turns into a bookmaker’s nightmare!
Successful lawyer Steve Flood has a weakness he simply cannot control — gambling on the horses. His increasingly suspicious wife Melanie initially fears that another woman is responsible for his secretive behaviour, only to discover that Steve’s real mistress is the racetrack.
Determined to cure him, Melanie joins forces with Steve’s law partner Clint Morgan and secretly becomes Steve’s fictitious bookmaker. The idea is simple: let Steve lose enough money and he’ll finally abandon gambling for good.
There’s just one problem — Steve suddenly starts winning!
Before long, two horse-playing judges want Steve to place their bets as well, and Melanie finds herself responsible for increasingly enormous payouts. What began as an innocent scheme suddenly resembles a very successful illegal bookmaking operation.
Things become even more complicated when genuine mobster Tony Gagouts discovers that a mysterious new bookmaker is taking his customers. Determined to find out exactly “who’s got the action,” Tony and his thugs trace the operation directly to the Floods’ apartment — where they discover that the criminal mastermind they’ve been hunting is actually Steve’s increasingly desperate wife!
Packed with misunderstandings, gambling, gangsters and marital mayhem, Who’s Got the Action? is a fast-moving 1960s comedy showcasing Dean Martin and Lana Turner, with terrific support from Eddie Albert and Walter Matthau.
