BABY DOLL (1956) Carroll Baker, Karl Malden, Eli Wallach, Mildred Dunnock, Lonny Chapman - PUBLIC DOMAIN DVD ONLY NO CASE

An unforgettable tale of jealousy, temptation and revenge in the sweltering heat of the Mississippi Delta!
From acclaimed director Elia Kazan and legendary playwright Tennessee Williams comes one of the most daring, controversial and celebrated films of the 1950s, starring Carroll Baker, Karl Malden and Eli Wallach.
In the rural Mississippi Delta, struggling cotton gin owner Archie Lee Meighan lives in a crumbling Southern mansion with his beautiful but immature young wife, Baby Doll. With his business facing financial ruin and his marriage under increasing strain, Archie becomes consumed by jealousy, bitterness and desperation.
When his prosperous rival, Silva Vacarro, suffers a devastating fire at his cotton gin, suspicion quickly falls upon Archie. Determined to uncover the truth and exact revenge, Vacarro arrives at the Meighan household, where his charm and calculated manipulation draw Baby Doll into a dangerous game of attraction, deception and betrayal.
As tensions rise and long-hidden resentments erupt, the three become entangled in a battle of wills that threatens to destroy their already fragile lives.
Combining biting black comedy, psychological drama and Tennessee Williams' unmistakable Southern Gothic atmosphere, Baby Doll shocked audiences upon its original release and became one of the decade's most talked-about films.
Featuring extraordinary performances, razor-sharp dialogue and masterful direction, this four-time Academy Award-nominated classic remains a landmark of American cinema.
