Based on the extraordinary story of Tennessee lawman Buford Pusser, Walking Tall is a hard-hitting 1970s action drama starring Joe Don Baker in one of his most memorable roles.
After retiring from professional wrestling, Pusser returns home with his wife Pauline hoping for a peaceful new life. Instead, he discovers a community poisoned by illegal gambling, moonshine, prostitution and corruption. When a visit to a notorious gambling club leaves him brutally beaten and fighting for his life, Pusser decides he has had enough.
Armed with his famous hickory club and an uncompromising determination to clean up the county, Pusser becomes sheriff and launches a relentless campaign against the criminals controlling his hometown. But his refusal to back down makes him powerful enemies — and soon the violence becomes devastatingly personal.
Tough, gritty and uncompromising, Walking Tall became a major box-office success and an enduring cult classic.
