FIGHTING BACK (1982) - Starring -Tom Skerritt, Patti LuPone, Michael Sarrazin, Yaphet Kotto, David Rasche, Lewis Van Bergen, Earle Hyman and Ted Ross - PUBLIC DOMAIN - COLOUR - DVD ONLY NO CASE

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! ONE MAN DECLARES WAR ON CRIME — AND AN ENTIRE CITY IS ABOUT TO EXPLODE!

Starring Tom Skerritt, Patti LuPone, Michael Sarrazin and Yaphet Kotto, Fighting Back is a hard-hitting 1982 American action thriller from director Lewis Teague, packed with explosive confrontations, brutal street violence, revenge and gripping urban suspense. Set against the crime-ridden streets of Philadelphia, the film follows John D'Angelo, a hardworking Italian-American delicatessen owner who has grown increasingly frustrated by the violence, corruption and lawlessness destroying his once-peaceful neighbourhood. When his pregnant wife Lisa is seriously injured during a terrifying confrontation with a violent pimp, resulting in the loss of their unborn child, and his elderly mother is brutally mugged by street criminals, John finally decides that enough is enough. Determined to reclaim his community from the criminals who terrorise its residents, he joins forces with his policeman friend Vince Morelli and organises the People's Neighbourhood Patrol, a volunteer group of ordinary citizens prepared to fight back against the growing tide of crime. Wearing distinctive uniforms and patrolling the streets, the group quickly attracts public attention as its increasingly aggressive methods begin producing results. But as John's popularity grows, so does the controversy surrounding his vigilante organisation, whose members frequently take the law into their own hands. With accusations of racial discrimination, political ambitions and escalating violence threatening to tear the community apart, John finds himself caught between his determination to restore order and the dangerous consequences of his actions. When a ruthless criminal known as Eldorado strikes again, murdering someone close to John, the struggle becomes deeply personal and the streets erupt into an all-out battle for revenge. As the violence reaches boiling point, John prepares for a final explosive confrontation that will test the limits of justice, morality and the law. Featuring gritty urban locations, powerful performances, tense action sequences and a relentless atmosphere of danger, Fighting Back is a compelling example of early-1980s vigilante cinema that explores the thin line between protecting a community and becoming part of the violence threatening to destroy it. A tough, uncompromising and action-packed crime thriller that delivers suspense, controversy and explosive revenge from beginning to end!
