VANISHING POINT (1971) is an American action film directed by Richard C. Sarafian, starring Barry Newman, Cleavon Little, and Dean Jagger. It follows a disillusioned former policeman and race car driver as he drives a muscle car from Denver to San Francisco while high on speed. As he faces police pursuit and encounters various characters along the way, the film has gained a cult following since its release. Kowalski, the driver, places a bet that he can reach San Francisco before Sunday at 3 pm, despite not having to deliver the car until Monday. With flashbacks and his police record, it's revealed that Kowalski is a former war hero, race car driver, and motorcycle racer who was kicked off the police force for standing up to a superior's attempted rape. As he speeds through Colorado and Utah, Kowalski garners attention from a blind disc jockey on KOW radio who encourages him to evade the police.
