PEEPING TOM (1960) is a British psychological horror-thriller film directed by Michael Powell and written by Leo Marks. Starring Carl Boehm, Moira Shearer, Anna Massey, and Maxine Audley, the film follows a serial killer who records his victims' dying expressions with a portable film camera. Titled after the phrase "Peeping Tom," referring to a voyeur, the film's controversial subject matter initially received harsh criticism from British critics, resulting in a negative impact on Powell's career. However, in later years, it gained a cult following and is now considered a masterpiece and a precursor to contemporary slasher films. Directed by Brian Easdale and performed by Australian pianist Gordon Watson, the film's orchestral score adds to its eerie atmosphere. The plot centers on Mark Lewis, a shy and reclusive man who works as a focus puller on a film crew. In his free time, Mark also takes soft-porn pin-up photographs of Young Women.
