Clint Eastwood swaps the steely intensity of his westerns and Dirty Harry adventures for one of his most entertaining and unexpected roles in this hugely popular action comedy.

Eastwood stars as Philo Beddoe, an easy-going truck driver and formidable bare-knuckle fighter who shares his life with his best friend Orville and an unforgettable orangutan named Clyde. When Philo falls for aspiring country singer Lynn Halsey-Taylor (Sondra Locke), he believes he may finally have found the woman for him. But when Lynn suddenly disappears, Philo sets off across the American West to find her.

With Orville and Clyde along for the ride, what should be a simple journey soon becomes complete chaos. Philo finds himself pursued by the hopelessly inept Black Widows motorcycle gang, a furious police officer and an assortment of colourful characters, while earning money from a succession of bare-knuckle fights.

The journey eventually leads Philo towards a showdown with legendary fighter Tank Murdock – and the discovery that finding the woman of his dreams may not turn out quite as he imagined.

Packed with fights, motorcycles, country music, romance and plenty of comedy, Every Which Way but Loose became one of Clint Eastwood's biggest box-office successes and introduced audiences to one of cinema's most memorable double acts – Philo and Clyde.
