THE SPLIT (1968) is a crime drama film directed by Gordon Flemyng and written by Robert Sabaroff. Based on the novel The Seventh by Richard Stark (a pseudonym of Donald E. Westlake), the movie stars Gene Hackman, Julie Harris, and Jim Brown. With a musical score by Quincy Jones and an R rating, THE SPLIT tells the story of a carefully planned robbery at the Los Angeles Coliseum during a football game. As tensions rise and accusations fly, the mastermind behind the heist, McClain, must outsmart both his accomplices and the investigating lieutenant in order to keep the money and avoid the same fate as his ex-wife.
